Ok I’m going to throw this out there and tell you im only 14, and I know a lot of kids my age get a stage in their life where they to be the biggest badass in the world when they get older but it is not the same for me, first of all it’s a unspoken family tradition to serve in the military and my great uncle was in the Army Special Forces in Veitnam, and this is not a decision I thought of watching a Discovery Channel documentary on the SEALs or playing some video game I’ve thought long and hard about this for years and studied a lot into what the job intails not what some Hollywood movie made it look like, and I know it’s an extremely hard and dangerous job, but back to the question I was wondering if some of this stuff would prepare me for the job, first of all I’m in Scouts and hope to make it to Eagle soon enough but I think Scouts would help because it teaches you to lead and follow and respect peirs and we do alot of activaties I think would be some useful stuff to know before going, like I just got back from a 65 mile backpacking trip through the Appalation Trail, this Summer were going down to BSA Sea Base where I can get qualified in SCUBA and we do much more. I do Cross Country and Track and once I get into High School im going to join the Swim Team, I have fairly good grades( A’s and B’s) and in the advanced classes, I workout and run on my own pretty regularly just not to much to injure myself, I have sent a few E-Mails to Senior Cheif Don Shipley who was a SEAL for over two decades and now he runs this camp in Cheesapeak Virginia called Extreme SEAL Experiance where he gives the experiance of what it’s like to be a SEAL and helps kids aspiring to become SEALs reach their goal so when I turn 16 I’m going their and I am going to take the 3 week coarse in August which on the first week he beats team work into you and the basic skills of being a SEAL the 2nd week is more advanced and the 3rd week is a replication of Hell week so is this good preparation
